Does daily rank tracking cost much more than weekly?
Summary
Not necessarily. Update frequency and price don't line up neatly. SE Ranking Core updates 2,000 keywords daily for $129 a month, the same price Ahrefs Lite charges for 750 keywords updated weekly, and SpyFu Basic tracks 5,000 keywords weekly for $39.
Weekly trackers
- SpyFu Basic: $39 a month ($29 billed annually), 5,000 keywords, weekly.
- SpyFu Pro + AI: $119 a month after a $59 first month ($89 billed annually), 15,000 keywords, weekly.
- Ahrefs Lite: $129 a month, 750 keywords, weekly.
- Ahrefs Standard: $249 a month, 2,000 keywords, weekly.
Weekly is the default on every Ahrefs plan, and the pricing page lists no add-on for daily updates. Ahrefs' help center says extra tracked keywords can be bought in batches of 500 but doesn't give a price. Keywords over your limit are frozen, not dropped.

- SE Ranking Core: $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually), 2,000 keywords, daily.
- SE Ranking Growth: $279 a month ($223.20 billed annually), 5,000 keywords, daily.
- Semrush SEO: $139 a month ($117.33 billed annually), 500 keywords, daily.
- Semrush Pro+: $299 a month ($248.17 billed annually), 1,500 keywords, daily.
SE Ranking says it tracks the full top 100 results daily on all plans. Its keyword limit is shared across every project in the account, and keywords in a deactivated project still count.
Cost per 1,000 keywords
Dividing each monthly price by its keyword allowance gives a rough cost per 1,000 tracked keywords: about $8 for both SpyFu Basic and SpyFu Pro + AI, $56 for SE Ranking Growth, $65 for SE Ranking Core, $125 for Ahrefs Standard, $172 for Ahrefs Lite, $199 for Semrush Pro+ and $278 for Semrush SEO. These plans bundle other research and audit tools, so the ratio covers tracking capacity only. It still shows that a weekly plan isn't automatically the cheap option.
Search Console's average position measures something else. Google records the topmost position your link held in each result it appeared in, then averages across queries. A page shown at positions 2, 4 and 6 for one query and 3, 5 and 9 for another averages 2.5. Queries where you got no impression add nothing, and an AI Overview counts as a single position however many links it holds. A rank tracker checks the same keywords in the same location on a fixed schedule whether or not anyone saw you, and that schedule, daily or weekly, is what you are paying for.
