Is it cheaper to buy HubSpot one Hub at a time or as the full Customer Platform?

Verified 28 September 2026 · SaaS COMPASS

Summary

At the Starter level, the bundle is the obvious buy, because HubSpot lists a single Starter Hub and the Starter Customer Platform at the same per-seat price. At Professional the answer flips on the monthly bill. A team of three marketers and three sellers pays $230 a month less by buying Marketing Hub and Sales Hub separately, but that route carries $4,500 in mandatory onboarding and leaves out Service, Content, and Data Hub.

The pieces HubSpot sells

Everything sits on Smart CRM, HubSpot's shared customer database. On top of it, HubSpot sells six Hubs: Marketing Hub for marketing automation, Sales Hub for sales, Service Hub for customer service, Content Hub for content marketing, Data Hub for data management, and Revenue Hub for quoting, billing, and payments. Agent Hub, formerly Breeze Agents, is where the AI agents are managed. Each Hub has a free plan, and the free tools allow up to two users.

Starter costs the same whether you buy one Hub or all of them

Open the Starter card on the Sales Hub, Marketing Hub, or Customer Platform pricing page and you see the same pair of numbers, $7 and $20 per seat per month. The Starter product page explains them. $7 is a limited-time price for new customers who pay annually up front, $10 is the discounted monthly price, and $20 is the base price.

Since the seat price doesn't change, a team that only wants Sales Hub Starter gets the Starter editions of marketing, service, content, data, and billing software for nothing extra by choosing the Customer Platform. Both come with 500 HubSpot Credits a month for AI features.

Six people on Professional

Each Professional card is built differently. Marketing Hub is a monthly fee that includes three Core Seats. Sales Hub is priced per seat. The Customer Platform is a monthly fee that includes six seats. HubSpot shows two prices on each card depending on how you pay, so the math below uses the lower figure throughout.

  • Marketing Hub Professional plus three Sales Hub Professional seats: $800 + (3 × $90) = $1,070 a month, or $12,840 a year. HubSpot adds required one-time onboarding of $3,000 for Marketing and $1,500 for Sales, so the first year comes to $17,340.
  • Professional Customer Platform: $1,300 a month, or $15,600 a year, with Service Hub, Content Hub, and Data Hub Professional included. Its pricing card carries no onboarding note, so the first-year total can't be finished from the public page.

The six seats also need a closer look. HubSpot's product catalog treats a Sales Seat, which unlocks all of Sales Hub Professional, as a different thing from a Core Seat, which gives core access to the products you bought. The Customer Platform card says "Includes 6 Seats" without saying how many of them are Sales Seats. If your sellers will live in sequences and forecasting, the seat type on the quote matters as much as the price.

People who only look at dashboards are free

View-Only Seats cost nothing on Starter, Professional, or Enterprise, according to the same catalog. An owner who checks the pipeline once a week doesn't belong in the headcount above. How HubSpot's seat types compare with other vendors' is covered in our piece on what each vendor counts as a seat.
