Xmind costs $4.92 or $8.25 a month on a yearly plan: is Pro enough, or do you need Premium?
Xmind is a mind-mapping app for Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, with a free plan and two paid ones. The prices on its pricing page, $4.92 a month for Pro and $8.25 for Premium, are what you pay on a yearly plan: about $59 and $99 a year. Switch the page to Monthly and the same plans cost $10 and $15. For one person mapping ideas alone, Pro covers the desktop work; Premium is for people who edit maps together in real time, plan with Gantt charts and tasks, or want Xmind's AI to draft maps for them.
Monthly or yearly: where the line falls
Twelve months on monthly billing come to $120 for Pro and $180 for Premium. The yearly plans cost $59.04 ($4.92 × 12) and $99 ($8.25 × 12). Put another way, Pro yearly costs the same as 5.9 months of Pro monthly ($59.04 ÷ $10), and Premium yearly the same as 6.6 months of Premium monthly ($99 ÷ $15). If you expect to use Xmind for six months or more (seven for Premium), the yearly plan is cheaper; for a single project of two or three months, monthly is.
The page shows the per-month figure only, so the exact yearly charge appears at checkout, which requires an Xmind account.
What Premium adds to Pro
| Pro | Premium | What it changes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online maps you create by hand | Up to 50 | Unlimited | Only matters if you keep many maps online |
| Editing with others | Basic | Real-time | Several people on one map at once |
| Version history | 3 days | 30 days | How far back you can undo |
| Sheets per collaborative map | 3 | Unlimited | Big projects split into sheets |
| Gantt chart | View only | Can edit | Change the schedule inside the map |
| Tasks with assignees | No | Yes (export to ICS or Excel) | A map as a to-do plan |
| AI credits | 50 | 500 a month | Text to map, summaries and other AI tools are Premium only |

Pro already removes the watermark and exports to PNG, SVG, PDF, Markdown and Office formats, and Pitch mode, which turns a map into slides, has no slide limit on either plan. If you work on your own and share finished maps as files, those are the features you will use most, and Premium's extras go unused.
Is the free plan enough?
For trying Xmind, yes. The free plan lets you create up to 10 online maps by hand, keeps 3 days of version history, limits Pitch to 5 slides and includes 50 AI credits. Exported images carry a watermark, so the free plan is better for thinking than for handing maps to clients.
Trial, refunds and what happens when you stop
The free trial runs 7 days and is offered on yearly plans only, not on monthly ones. A yearly Pro or Premium plan bought on Xmind's website comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee: email support@xmind.com with the order number or account email. Monthly plans and the AI Credits Add-on are not refundable. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time.
One subscription covers up to 5 Macs or PCs and 5 mobile devices. If you let it lapse, your maps stay stored and you can still open them; the paid features return when you renew. Xmind recommends upgrading from Pro to Premium on the same platform where you bought Pro, which is worth knowing if you subscribed through an app store.
