Which Sales Hub plan unlocks sequences, and what would four reps pay?
Summary
Sequences, HubSpot's automated follow-up cadences, require Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise. Professional starts at $90 per seat per month and carries a mandatory $1,500 onboarding fee, so four reps pay $5,820 in the first year and $4,320 after that. Starter is far cheaper at $960 a year for four seats at the base price, but it has no sequences, no lead scoring, and a restricted set of 50 workflows.
What a sequence does
A sequence sends one prospect a timed series of personalized emails and reminder tasks. Meet someone at a trade show, enroll them, and they get a thank-you the next day, a case study four days later, and a call task lands on your list on day ten. You can enroll contacts straight from Gmail or Outlook for desktop. HubSpot's help center is explicit on the plan: "A Sales or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription is required to use sequences."
What each plan unlocks
Starter is sold per seat at a $20 base price, with a limited-time promotion from $7 for new customers. Sales automation is capped at 50 workflows "with restricted triggers and actions," and you get 15 custom pipelines and 500 HubSpot Credits a month. HubSpot branding comes off one-to-one email. There are no sequences and no lead scoring.
Professional starts at $90 per seat per month; the card also shows $100 depending on how you pay, and even the monthly option is an annual commitment. A one-time Professional Onboarding fee of $1,500 is required. You get sequences, up to 300 fully customizable workflows, up to five lead scores, 100 custom pipelines, the lead object for tracking prospects through qualification, and 3,000 credits a month.
Enterprise starts at $150 per seat with a required $3,500 onboarding fee. Workflows go to 1,000 and can trigger sequences, lead scores go to 10, pipelines to 350, and credits to 5,000.
Four reps, three ways
| Plan | Seats × price × 12 | Onboarding | First year | Year two |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter ($20 base) | 4 × $20 × 12 = $960 | none | $960 | $960 |
| Professional ($90) | 4 × $90 × 12 = $4,320 | $1,500 | $5,820 | $4,320 |
| Professional ($100) | 4 × $100 × 12 = $4,800 | $1,500 | $6,300 | $4,800 |
| Enterprise ($150) | 4 × $150 × 12 = $7,200 | $3,500 | $10,700 | $7,200 |

A sales manager who only reviews the pipeline doesn't need a paid seat, since View-Only Seats are free on every paid edition. Reps who use the full Professional feature set are a different matter: HubSpot's catalog defines a Sales Seat, which "grants complete access to Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise," separately from the Core Seat.
If single sign-on, not sequences, is what pushes you to Professional, our piece on SSO costs runs those numbers.
