Do you need a paid Data Hub plan to connect HubSpot to your other systems?
Summary
Not for basic syncing. HubSpot's data sync with other apps works on the free plan, and Starter adds custom field mappings. Custom code in workflows, webhook-triggered workflows, and automated data cleanup start at Data Hub Professional, $720 a month billed annually with one seat included. If you connect your own software through the API, what matters is your account's rate limit, which rises with your HubSpot plan.
API limits come first for custom builds
When your own system calls HubSpot directly through a private app, these are the limits in HubSpot's developer usage guidelines:
| Account tier | Per 10 seconds, per app | Per day, per account |
|---|---|---|
| Free and Starter | 100 | 250,000 |
| Professional | 190 | 625,000 |
| Enterprise | 190 | 1,000,000 |
| With API limit increase | 250 | +1,000,000 per increase, max two |
The daily cap is shared by every private app in the account and resets at midnight in the account's time zone. Go over, and every call after that gets a 429 error. Apps from the marketplace that install through OAuth have a separate limit of 110 requests every 10 seconds per installing account, and the API limit increase doesn't raise it.
To put the daily number in context, pushing 400,000 record updates a day from an order system, one call per record, breaks the 250,000 cap on a free or Starter account but fits under Professional's 625,000. Webhook calls sent from workflows don't count toward any of these limits.
Free and Starter cover app-to-app sync
HubSpot's data sync connects to more than 100 apps and keeps records matched between them. The free plan uses HubSpot's default field mappings. Starter lets you map fields yourself and adds AI suggestions for fixing inconsistent formatting, plus company and contact enrichment. It costs $7 a seat per month on annual billing or $10 monthly, both limited-time rates for new customers against a regular price of $20.
Where Professional starts to matter
- Programmable automation: custom code inside a workflow, for logic HubSpot's standard actions can't do.
- Webhook workflow triggers: up to 10 on Professional and 100 on Enterprise, so an event in another system can start a HubSpot workflow.
- Data quality automation and bulk duplicate management: cleanup for the duplicates that multiply as more systems feed records in.
- Scheduled workflow triggers and Data studio, which uses HubSpot Credits.
Warehouse connections to Snowflake, BigQuery, and AWS S3 are Enterprise only.
Three users, one year
Professional and Enterprise are priced as a base with one seat included, then per added seat. For three people on annual billing, in US dollars before tax:
- Starter: $7 × 3 × 12 = $252
- Professional: ($720 + 2 × $45) × 12 = $9,720
- Enterprise: ($2,000 + 2 × $75) × 12 = $25,800
Paid monthly, Professional is $800 a month with extra seats at $50, or $10,800 a year for three people. Professional includes 5,000 HubSpot Credits a month and Enterprise 10,000.
