The conclusion first

ZeroBounce checks whether the email addresses on your list can still receive mail, so that you stop sending to addresses that bounce. You pay for it in credits: one credit validates one address. There are two ways to buy them. Pay-As-You-Go is a one-time purchase that starts at $39 for 2,000 credits. ZeroBounce ONE is a subscription that starts at $99 a month for 10,000 credits a month, or $79 a month on annual billing. At every volume where both are offered, one month of ONE costs less than buying the same number of credits once: $99 against $129 for 10,000, and $449 against $649 for 100,000. Pay-As-You-Go is the cheaper route only below 10,000 credits, where ONE is not sold.

These are the steps of the calculator on the pricing page; all prices are in US dollars. Against a single purchase of the same count, one month of ONE is $30 to $700 cheaper, 22% to 31% (for 10,000: 30 ÷ 129 = 23%; for 100,000: 200 ÷ 649 = 31%). The page's FAQ puts the subscription saving at "up to 18%"; the calculator's own prices give the larger figures above.

The steps are uneven, and one of them is worth noticing. On ONE, 50,000 credits cost $379 a month and 100,000 cost $449: $70 more for twice the credits. If your list is around 60,000 addresses, the 100,000 step is the one to price first.

What a credit buys

The pricing page FAQ sets the exchange rate. Validating one address uses one credit, whether you upload a file or call the API. Scoring an address with ZeroBounce's AI scoring uses one more credit. Email Finder, which looks up an address from a name and domain, uses 20 credits per successful search. Results that come back "unknown" are not charged, and neither are duplicate addresses removed from your list. So a list of 10,000 addresses needs at most 10,000 credits to validate, and 20,000 if you also score every address.

Why the subscription can be cheaper even for a one-off clean

The terms decide what happens to credits you do not use. Under section 10c of the terms (last revised May 5, 2026), credits bought by customers who registered after June 1, 2026 expire two years after the most recent credit purchase. While a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active, credits do not expire, and when the subscription ends, the unused credits expire two years after the last day of the subscription period. The FAQ adds that unused ONE credits roll over from month to month.

Section 12 of the terms describes ONE as month to month. You can cancel from the billing section of your account, the cancellation takes effect at the next scheduled bill date, and charges already made are not refunded. For a list you clean once, that makes one month of ONE a like-for-like alternative to a single purchase: at 10,000 credits, $99 for one month against $129 once, and the credits stay valid for two years after the month ends. ONE subscribers also get 15% off any Pay-As-You-Go credits they buy on top, according to the plan card.

Annual or monthly: the ten-month line

On annual billing, ONE at 10,000 credits is $79 a month, which the page shows as a $240 saving over a year (12 × $79 = $948, against 12 × $99 = $1,188). Annual pays for itself only if you would otherwise keep the monthly plan for about ten months: nine monthly payments come to $891, less than $948, and ten come to $990, more ($948 ÷ $99 = 9.6). The same line holds at higher volumes ($4,308 ÷ $449 = 9.6 at 100,000 credits).

The pricing page shows annual billing as a price per month and does not say whether the year is charged at once. The terms describe subscriptions as month to month unless agreed otherwise and do not set out separate cancellation rules for annual billing. Check the amount charged at checkout before you choose annual.

The refund window is narrow

Section 11 of the terms offers a full refund on a first ONE subscription, requested within 30 days of the first payment, but only if usage has stayed within limits that include no more than 500 emails validated, 5 inbox placement tests and 5 email server tests. In practice, it covers a subscription you have barely used. Pay-As-You-Go purchases are final and non-refundable under section 10b. If you want to test the service first, the free plan gives 100 validation credits a month when you sign up with a business domain, according to the pricing page.

Who should not buy a plan yet

If you validate fewer than 100 addresses a month, the free plan covers it. If you have one list of 2,000 to 5,000 addresses to clean, Pay-As-You-Go at $39 or $69 is the only way to buy that few credits; ONE starts at 10,000. And if you need more than 1,000,000 credits a month, the published prices stop there and ZeroBounce asks you to contact sales.

What to actually do

Count the addresses you need to check in a year and how often you check them. If it is under 100 a month, stay on the free plan. If it is a single list of under 10,000, buy Pay-As-You-Go at the smallest step that covers it. If it is 10,000 or more, price one month of ONE at the step that covers your list, and cancel after the month if you only need one clean; the credits stay valid for two years after the month ends. If you will check lists every month for ten months or more, compare annual billing, and confirm at checkout how the year is charged.
