How far do monday.com's monthly AI credits go, and what happens when they run out?
Summary
Each paid monday.com plan comes with a monthly pool of AI credits: 1,000 on Basic, 2,000 on Standard, and 3,000 on Pro, with none on the free plan. An AI action on a board item uses 8 credits, so Standard's pool covers about 250 items a month, while the AI Notetaker burns 120 credits per meeting hour and would record only about 16.7 hours. You get alerts at 80% and 100%, and you can move to a bigger credit bucket without adding seats.
Credits come with the seats you buy
monday.com's help center says AI credits "must be purchased alongside seats" and are "not included for free." The pricing page shows how that looks on the bill. For 10 Standard seats it lists "$12 x 10 seats = $120," then "2,000 credits = $20," then a "Special monthly discount = -$20," for a total of $120 a month. In other words, the credits are a line item, and the current discount cancels it out.
The feature set grows with the plan. Basic gets three AI tools (a limited AI agent workforce, the Sidekick assistant, and the Vibe app builder). Standard adds the AI meeting notetaker and AI columns. Pro adds the AI workflow builder. Standard can also be set to 4,000 or 8,000 credits a month, and Pro to 4,000, 8,000, or 20,000. These rules apply to accounts that joined on or after May 6, 2026.
What a credit buys
monday.com prices one credit at $0.01, so Standard's 2,000 credits come to $20.

A team with five one-hour meetings a week logs about 20 meeting hours a month. Recording all of them takes 2,400 credits, which is more than Standard's 2,000 and fits inside Pro's 3,000 with 600 to spare.
When you hit the limit
Admins are notified at 80% and 100% of usage. monday.com says some AI capabilities keep running "for a short period" after the limit, without saying how long. More credits are bought from the Credits Usage tab under AI governance in the admin section. Whether unused credits carry over to the next month is not stated on any page we read.
Automations and API calls run on separate meters
Rule-based automations and integrations do not use AI credits. They have their own monthly action quotas, counted separately for each: 250 on Standard, 25,000 on Pro, and 250,000 on Enterprise, with none on Free or Basic. API access has a daily cap that resets at midnight UTC:
- Free, Basic, and Standard: 1,000 calls a day
- Pro: 10,000 calls a day
- Enterprise: 25,000 calls a day
