What does it cost to track your brand in ChatGPT and Google's AI answers with Semrush?
Summary
The cheapest route is the standalone AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 a month per domain, which tracks 25 prompts daily and sells more in blocks of 50 for $60 a month. If you also want Semrush's SEO tools, the bundled plans usually cost less: Starter at $199 tracks 50 prompts and Pro+ at $299 tracks 100. The $139 SEO plan has no prompt-tracking quota at all.
Two meters you will run into
Semrush meters AI visibility in two ways, and they cap different things.
Prompts tracked daily. A prompt is a question you want Semrush to ask the AI platforms every day, such as "best payroll software for a 20-person company," so you can see whether your brand appears. The standalone toolkit includes 25. Starter includes 50, Pro+ 100, and Advanced 200. Extra prompts come in blocks of 50 for $60 a month.
Brand Performance domains. This weekly report shows how the AI platforms describe a brand against up to nine competitors. Each subscription covers one domain, and each extra domain costs $99 a month. When you swap a domain out of a slot, that slot is locked for 14 days.
Beyond those two, the standalone toolkit allows 300 AI analysis reports and 1,000 Prompt Research queries a day, AI search checks in Site Audit for up to 100 pages, and 10 CSV exports per user per day of up to 1,000 rows each. It has no free trial.
Pricing out 100 prompts
Take a company that wants to track 100 questions about its product category.
- Standalone toolkit with two extra blocks: $99 + $60 + $60 = $219 a month, for 125 prompts.
- The same, on top of the $139 SEO plan: $358 a month.
- Pro+: $299 a month for 100 prompts, with 15 websites and 1,500 tracked keywords on the SEO side.
If AI answers are all you care about, $219 is the floor. If you would buy the SEO plan anyway, Pro+ comes in $59 cheaper and includes the larger SEO limits. An agency watching three client brands in Brand Performance adds $198 for the two extra domains.
Adding a colleague
Each additional user on the AI Visibility Toolkit needs their own $99 license. The "additional users starting at $45" line on the pricing page is the SEO Toolkit seat, and it does not carry AI Visibility access with it.
Which AI platforms are measured
Coverage changes from report to report. The database behind Visibility Overview, Competitor Research, and Prompt Research holds more than 317 million prompts and responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and AI Mode. Brand Performance covers Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. Prompt Tracking runs daily on ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode, and Gemini; one help article adds AI Overviews to that list and another leaves it out. Claude and Copilot are not listed for any report.
