How much does call center software cost per agent each month?

Summary

Published prices start at $25 an agent a month and top out at $249. Where a product lands depends mostly on how much it does besides answering the phone.

$25 to $50: CloudTalk, Talkdesk Express, JustCall and Aircall. Built for sales and support teams of a few to a few dozen people. JustCall needs at least two users and Aircall three.

$65 to $110: RingCentral RingCX, Zoom Contact Center, Genesys Cloud CX 1, Talkdesk Voice Essentials and NiCE CXone's Omnichannel Suite. These are contact center platforms first, sold to teams that measure queues and service levels.

$145 to $249: the top tiers of the same platforms, which add workforce management, quality scoring and AI allowances.

No seat price at all: Amazon Connect charges $0.038 per voice minute plus telephony. At 2,000 minutes per agent a month that is $76 per agent before the phone line itself.

Ten agents for a year on the entry plan run from $3,000 (CloudTalk) to $13,200 (NiCE CXone).

"Entry plan" here is the cheapest published plan that takes phone calls. Talkdesk's Digital Essentials ($85) is cheaper than its voice plan, but it covers email, chat, SMS and social channels rather than calls, so it is left out.

Zoom's $69 Essentials plan is inbound only. If your agents call customers back, the comparison starts at Premium, $99.

Talkdesk Express and Talkdesk's main plans are two different products. Express is $25 per named user, billed monthly in arrears, with no contract, and only for businesses under 50 employees in the US and Canada. It runs a 15-day trial for up to 10 users and comes with $100 of credit for call minutes and AI features. The main plans start at $105.

Ten agents, one year

A year of the entry plan for 10 agents: the annual price where one is published, otherwise the monthly price, times 12. Before tax, phone numbers and add-ons. Calculated, not quoted.
Provider10 agents, 12 months
CloudTalk$3,000
Talkdesk Express$3,000
JustCall$3,480
Aircall$3,600
RingCentral RingCX$7,800
Zoom Contact Center (inbound only)$8,280
Genesys Cloud CX$9,000
Amazon Connect (2,000 voice minutes per agent a month, telephony not included)$9,120
Talkdesk$12,600
NiCE CXone$13,200

The gap between the bottom and the top of this table is about the software, not the calls. A $25 CloudTalk seat and a $110 NiCE seat can both answer a call. NiCE lists voice and digital channels, omnichannel routing, recording and compliance, and AI routing as the core of every package. If your team takes calls and nobody needs routing across chat, email and voice, the cheaper seat does the job.

For the cheaper four, the seat is often all you pay for domestic calls. CloudTalk includes unlimited calls to the US and Canada. Aircall's and JustCall's plan details, including their minute terms, are on their pages here: Aircall pricing in full and JustCall pricing in full.

What the per-agent price leaves out

Genesys says plainly that phone numbers and call minutes are billed on top of the CX licenses. Why does Genesys Cloud CX cost so much more per user than a regular cloud phone plan? goes through that bill in detail.

Amazon Connect has no seat fee, and its voice price comes with the note "standard telephony rates apply." The phone number and the per-minute carrier charge are separate line items. Its model suits a team whose call volume swings a lot. A team on the phone all day pays more than it would for a seat.

RingCentral advertises RingCX as coming with unlimited minutes. NiCE says it bills monthly in arrears with no prepayment. Talkdesk Express draws calls from a prepaid credit balance.

All of these are list prices before tax. Which business phone providers actually publish their setup fees? covers the fees side.

Do you need one at all?

If what you need is a queue for five people, a regular business phone plan may already have it. When does a business need call center software instead of a regular phone plan? shows which phone plans include call queuing and where the line sits. For the phone plans themselves, the seat cost calculator compares them at your team size.
