Which Ooma Office plan do you need for call recording and texting?
Summary
Pro, at $24.95 per user per month, is the first plan with call recording and text messaging. Essentials at $19.95 has neither. Salesforce integration, call queuing, and hot desking are only in Pro Plus at $29.95. All three are sold month to month with "No Contract Necessary," and the plans page adds a one-time $29.95 activation fee to the subtotal.
Where the features sit
Essentials covers unlimited calling to the US, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, a virtual receptionist, the mobile app, one free toll-free number with 500 inbound minutes a month, and digital fax. No texting, no recording, no desktop app.
Pro keeps all of that and adds the desktop app, texting (up to 250 a month), video meetings for up to 25 people, call recording, and enhanced call blocking. Ooma's FAQ says voicemail transcription is available on Pro and Pro Plus.
Pro Plus adds AI transcriptions, AI Insights, CRM integration, team chat, hot desking, call queuing, 1,000 texts a month, and video meetings for up to 100 people.
Enterprise is custom priced and lists SIP trunking, Teams integration and Direct Routing, and call center features.
The texting allowance is per account
The plans page just says "up to 250/month." The rates page is more specific: 250 messages per account per month on Pro and 1,000 on Pro Plus. Inbound, outbound, internal, short code, and deleted messages all count. Five people on Pro share the same 250. Past the allowance, each message costs $0.0095, and Ooma offers volume pricing through customer support.

No hardware is required. The rates page also sells IP phones, such as the 2602W Wi-Fi model at $79.99, and the Ooma Linx at $49.99.
Five people on Pro
Five Pro seats come to $124.75 a month. The first bill adds the $29.95 activation fee, and every bill carries local taxes and fees. The shared 250-message allowance is where a team this size runs short: at three texts per person per working day, five people send about 315 a month. From there the choice is paying $0.0095 per extra message or moving everyone to Pro Plus for $25 more a month in total.
Ooma publishes no annual price and no free trial for the service.
