What does a year of business phone service cost for a 10-person team?
Summary
On annual billing, published prices put ten users for a year anywhere from $1,800 (Quo, Nextiva, Dialpad) to $3,600 (Aircall). Pay monthly and the order reshuffles: Dialpad rises to $3,240 and RingCentral to $3,600, while Zoom Phone moves only to $2,160. Taxes and regulatory fees come on top everywhere except two places, Microsoft's Teams Phone with Calling Plan and Talkroute, whose Pro plan covers ten users for $59 a month, or $708 a year.

A few of these carry conditions. Nextiva's $15 is for new customers with 1 to 100 employees who sign for 12 months or more. Teams Phone requires a separate Teams license, so the cheapest one, Teams Essentials at $4 a month on an annual subscription, is included.
The same team, billed monthly
Quo goes to $2,280, Zoom Phone to $2,160, Nextiva to $2,760, Dialpad to $3,240, RingCentral to $3,600, and Aircall to $4,800. The jump is uneven. Zoom adds $240 a year for the team; Dialpad adds $1,440. Microsoft shows only paid-yearly prices for Teams Phone and Teams Essentials.
Two plans only come month to month. Ooma Office Essentials is $19.95 per user with no contract, $2,394 a year for ten, plus a one-time activation fee of $29.95. The fee appears in the calculator on Ooma's plans page, which doesn't make clear whether it scales with users, so we count it once. Talkroute Pro is $59 a month with ten users included, $708 a year. Talkroute says annual plans exist but doesn't publish their price, and Pro comes with three phone numbers, not ten.
Google Voice is missing from both lists. It is an add-on to a paid Google Workspace subscription, and its cheapest Workspace tier stops at 10 users and has no auto attendant.
Charges that do have a published price
- Quo: extra numbers $5 a month; automated texts 1 cent per segment; texting registration through The Campaign Registry, a $19.50 one-time fee plus $1.50 to $3 a month; calls outside the US and Canada billed per minute.
- Ooma Office: extra numbers $9.95 a month; texts past the monthly allowance $0.0095 each; porting free.
- RingCentral: texting registration costs $19 for the brand application (charged even if rejected), $15 per campaign vetting, then $1.50 or $10 a month per campaign with a three-month minimum.
- Aircall: extra numbers $6 a month.
- Talkroute: extra numbers $5 a month; texting registration $19 on Basic, $15 on Plus, included on Pro.
- Nextiva: no amounts. The pricing page notes that features "may involve extra setup, licensing, or usage fees."
Three extra numbers for the ten-person team cost $180 a year on Quo and $358.20 on Ooma.
Taxes and fees
RingCentral names the charges in a footnote: a Federal Universal Service Recovery Fee, an E911 Service Fee, a Compliance and Administrative Cost Recovery Fee, a 911 fee, and state and local taxes "may apply." It gives no amounts. Zoom says whether tax applies depends on local law and shows it in the cart. Quo adds taxes and fees at checkout, and Ooma's rate sheet says they vary by locale.
Microsoft's Calling Plan cards state that the price includes communication taxes and fees. Talkroute says it adds no separate charges for telecom taxes, the Universal Service Fund, or other regulatory fees. They are the only two providers here whose published price says those charges are already in.
