How much does a Mitel phone system cost?

Summary

Mitel does not publish a price. Its small business page says "Pricing depends on user count, deployment model, and features," offers a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription, and tells you "A Mitel partner can quote your exact configuration." Mitel's own article titled "VoIP Phone System Pricing 2026" contains no dollar figure for anything, only a claim that most businesses "save 30-50% compared to traditional phone systems."

What Mitel sells to a small business today is three things: the MiVoice Business Small Business Package for 10 to 150 users, which can run on site, in a private cloud or in a public cloud and can be bought outright or by subscription; OpenScape Business, which Mitel describes as an all-in-one unified communications system; and Zoom Workplace from Mitel, which pairs Zoom's apps with Mitel's telephony.

If you are looking because you had Mitel's cloud phone service, it is gone. MiCloud Connect reached end of sale in June 2022, and Mitel's page says that in mid-June 2024 it "was acquired by RingCentral, including the products, related intellectual property, and respective customer bases." MiVoice Connect, the former ShoreTel system, keeps technical support until December 31, 2029, and Mitel points those customers to MiVoice Business.

Mitel went through Chapter 11 in 2025, announcing the agreement on March 9 and completing it on June 20, cutting about $1.15 billion of debt. It says contracts and payment terms stayed in place.

The yardstick for a quote: among the 16 U.S. cloud providers that publish a price, five users cost $39 at Talkroute to $150 at Aircall a month and ten cost $55 at Grasshopper to $300 at Aircall, with a middle value of $165. On per-seat plans that is $12.59 to $30 a user a month, all-in, before taxes and fees.

Where the price should be, and isn't

Three places on mitel.com could carry a number and none does. The small business solutions page describes the products and ends at a partner locator. The "Business VoIP Price Estimator" page that search engines list offers a Contact Sales button, not a figure. And the pricing guide Mitel publishes for the search phrase "VoIP phone system pricing" walks through cost categories, licenses, hardware, installation and support, without ever attaching a figure to its own products. That is a deliberate sales model, not an oversight: Mitel sells through partners, and the partner sets the price for the configuration you ask for.

Mitel is not alone in this. Of the providers in this site's dataset that sell in the U.S., 8x8 (8x8 Work), GoTo Connect and Switchvox Cloud also publish nothing and sell by quote (Which providers publish a price, and which do not lists them, and How do you compare an 8x8 quote when 8x8 won't publish a price? shows how to read one of those quotes). The difference with Mitel is that the quote can be for a system you own rather than a service you rent, which changes what the number means.

What a Mitel quote will contain

Mitel's small business page offers "Own it or Subscribe," and the two produce different-looking quotes for the same phones on the same desks. An owned MiVoice Business system is priced as user licenses bought once, a server or appliance (or a hosted instance), IP desk phones, a software assurance contract for updates and support, and the partner's installation and configuration time. A subscription folds the licenses and support into a monthly figure per user and may or may not include the phones. In both cases, connection to the public phone network, usually SIP trunks from a separate carrier, can be a second bill. Before you compare a Mitel quote with anything in the table below, add up everything in it, divide by the number of users and by the months of the term, and check whether trunks and phones are inside or outside that number (What a quote form is for and How much do desk phones and headsets add to a business phone setup?).

The package's floor matters too. MiVoice Business Small Business Package starts at 10 users. A two- or three-person company is not its customer, and the comparison for that size is in How much does a business phone system cost for 2, 3 or 5 people?.

If you came from MiCloud Connect or MiVoice Connect

MiCloud Connect customers are RingCentral customers now, on Mitel's own account of the June 2024 transaction; the product they are offered is RingEX, whose published plans are in Which RingEX plan fits a small team now that RingCentral posts prices for only two?. This is the same pattern Avaya Cloud Office followed a year later (What happens to Avaya Cloud Office customers now that the service redirects to RingCentral?). MiVoice Connect customers have a date, December 31, 2029, and a direction: Mitel says "we have several options for upgrading to MiVoice Business." Whether that upgrade or a cloud service is cheaper is exactly the quote-versus-table exercise above.

The published prices to hold a quote against

What five and ten users pay a month at the U.S. cloud phone providers that publish a price, on the cheapest plan sold at that size. Annual-billing prices where published; seat minimums, caps and required licenses applied; before taxes and fees. These are the numbers to hold a Mitel quote against. Calculated from this site's dataset, not quoted.

Scroll sideways on a phone.

The order is by the ten-user bill and does not depend on whether a provider pays this site a referral fee. For a quick sanity check, RingCentral comes to $200 a month on Core for ten users and Zoom Phone to $160 a month on US & CA Unlimited, both before taxes, fees and desk phones. A Mitel subscription quote that lands in this range for ten users is competing on price; one well above it is selling something else, usually on-site control, integration with existing Mitel hardware, or a partner relationship, and you should decide whether you are buying that.
